Award from
NYC Mayor's Office for Climate Policy:
for mural design "Day" to be installed in Red Hook, NYC
In October 2017, my design "Day" was selected by the NYC Mayor's Office for Climate Policy and Programs,
to be installed shortly in Red Hook, Brooklyn, an area damaged by previous storms. The mural will be installed for up to 5 years and will be 700 linear feet long.

The background is illustrated with fabrics I brought back from countries where I conducted workshops with children such as Liberia and others. The vivid patterns inspired me as an illustration of the multi-ethnic character of the neighborhood. The mural is a sort of colorful explosion of joy and energy, of playing outdoors, of sharing life’s experience. It is a day in childhood, the place we all come from.
